Partial Day Attendance: Report and Webinar

“Partial day” means repeatedly dismissing children from school with no access to education. Families often feel overwhelmed as they navigate advocating for their children’s inclusive education. It ranges from managing urgent childcare when partial days occur unexpectedly, repeatedly taking time from work, or giving up their jobs altogether to support their child at home when they should be in school.

Inclusion Canada and Inclusive Education Canada (IEC) conducted a survey of parents of students with disabilities across the country about their experiences with partial day attendance practices. The report reinforces the critical need to address these systemic barriers to support inclusive education, including adequate support outside of school hours and the challenge of navigating these support systems. It also acknowledges families' feelings of being overwhelmed.

We also hosted leaders and people with lived experience on the issue during a webinar on February 24, 2025.
