Our Objectives
Influence the design of a Canadian Disability Benefit that addresses issues of poverty experienced by people with an intellectual disability and assures broad access.
Develop and implement a national strategy to enable and safeguard the economic security of families who are providing disability-related support to their family members.
Why It Matters
The experience of living with an intellectual disability in Canada is defined by income insecurity. 75% of people with intellectual disabilities live in pervasive poverty. Their limited income often results in choices between food, rent, lifesaving medicine or disability support.

Our Vision
People with an intellectual disability and their families have the income and resources to secure a good quality of life and fully participate in all aspects of their communities.
How You Can Help
Our Work
What We're Doing
Inclusion Canada has worked directly with people with an intellectual disability and the federal government to address income disparity. The Canada Disability Benefit aims to reduce the national poverty rate by over 40% by providing people with a disability in Canada an income supplement that brings them above the poverty line.
