Originally from the East Coast, Tara (she/her) lives in Toronto, Ontario on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples.
Tara has worked in the Inclusion Canada federation for over 15 years at the provincial, national, and international levels. Her disability rights work has covered a range of policy areas including legal capacity, safeguards in healthcare, inclusive & affordable housing, income security, employment, accessible communication, family supports, and building inclusive communities. As Executive Director, Operations & Social Impact, Tara translates vision into action by providing strategic leadership and oversight to the organization's operational functions and national initiatives. Tara is also a policy lead for Inclusion Canada’s efforts on inclusive and affordable housing, federal accessibility legislation, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Tara holds a Master’s degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership from the School of Public Policy & Administration at Carleton University, as well as accreditations in program evaluation and easy to understand communications.
